The event will feature hive demonstrations\, various activities and games for all ages\, light refreshments and LIVE MUSIC featuring Asheville Singer/Songwriter Oliver Padgett from 1pm-2:30pm. Children activities include many arts and craft and education exhibits. \nDuring this event\, COVID-19 guidelines of physical distancing and mask wearing are required. Anyone experiencing illness of any kind should stay home.

The market is “producer-only” meaning that the vendor must be the grower or producer of ALL the products they sell. Vendors must produce within a 125-mile radius of Cashiers. That means that the season for each fruit and vegetable is longer. Shopping at the Green Market provides a forum for learning how food is grown\, who grew it\, and why it tastes so good. \nFill your basket with naturally raised meat and dairy items\, fresh eggs\, jams\, pickles\, freshly baked bread\, and delicious granola.  Set your table with fresh-cut flowers that morning or plant your entryway with locally grown perennials.  Always fresh.  Always local. \nVisit the Green Market website to learn more. \nDuring this time of physical distancing\, the Green Market will follow best practices to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our customers and vendors.  Customers should plan to bring face coverings to wear while you shop.  Market hours will be strictly observed; no early shopping.  Customers should stay home if they are experiencing illness of any kind.  Vendors will also follow the same procedures in addition to the safe set-up and sanitizing practices.

The clinic will take place on Easter Sunday\, from 1- 5 pm\, at The Village Green event venue\, 160 Frank Allen Drive\, in Cashiers.  We are partnering with the ELL class and others from the Church of the Good Shepherd\, Cashiers. Those interested in registering for the clinic should call our Spanish speakers’ Call Center phone line at 828.526.1353\, or they should text their personal information (Full Legal Name\, Date of Birth\, NC address\, Mobile Phone Number) to 828.200.9717. \nThe International Friendship Center provides support\, and referrals for other social and human services\, to immigrant working families and operates the Highlands Food Pantry\, which is open to anyone facing food insecurity.  The Community Care Clinic of Highlands-Cashiers provides primary and secondary medical care to uninsured residents of Macon and south Jackson counties. Vecinos Farm Worker Health Program provides primary and secondary medical care to immigrant farmworkers in western North Carolina.

Those attending need to bring a lawn chair. and observe a six-foot distance between households. In the event of inclement weather\, the Cashiers Area Clergy will lead this as a virtual experience\, again via live-stream on the Village Green Facebook page. \nAll of these opportunities are offered in the faith and trust that we can care for one another\, observing the command to love one another as you love yourself.  We want to maintain wearing a mask\, safe-distancing\, and following other measures to model caring for each other while ensuring the health and wellbeing of our larger community.  Many have been vaccinated\, but many have not.  Thank you for your cooperation. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Installation of the much-anticipated Cashiers Greenway Ramble StoryWalk™ in the Village Green is complete. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for Friday\, April 2 at 11:00 am at the Village Green picnic area\, and coincides with International Children’s Book Day. The StoryWalk™ was made possible through a collaboration between Vision Cashiers\, The Village Green\, The Albert Carlton-Cashiers Library\, and The Literary Council of Cashiers. \nA StoryWalk™ provides an outdoor adventure that champions reading along with family connection\, health\, and wellness. Pages of a story are posted at a series of stations along a trail\, allowing families and friends to enjoy a story as they walk the path. It is a concept that has taken hold in many communities across the country\, and due to the work of many dedicated individuals\, the Cashiers community can now embrace its own version. The national StoryWalk™ project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier\, Vermont\, and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library and the Vermont Bicycle and Pedestrian Coalition. \nThe first installation is up and features The Coming Soon Series\, which is a delightful series of 18 pages positioned on a standard base along the park pathway. The intention behind the series is to educate the public about what they can expect from this attraction for their children and to thank the many generous donors for making it possible.
