DESCRIPTION:A HUGE thank you to Landmark Realty Group for bringing TVG’s Fireworks Extravaganza!!\n \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Come one! Come all! Join us at The Village Green Commons for an evening of music\, family fun\, and of course\, fireworks! This is a FREE community event\, open to the public\, and no registration is required! \nThe annual “Fireworks Extravaganza on The Green” will take place on Saturday\, July 1st\, 2023 at 6:30pm\, RAIN or SHINE\, on The Village Green Commons Lawn! Entertainment will be provided by rhythm and blues band\, Continental Divide\, and the Cashiers Community Chorus\, followed by a fireworks show featuring 1000s of colorful bursts! The fireworks display will begin at dark around 9:30pm\, and will last approximately 15-20 minutes. \nAdmission is free\, however\, donations will be collected to help with the cost of the event. Many small communities have eliminated fireworks from their celebrations due to the cost associated with large pyrotechnic displays\, but The Village Green believes it is important to preserve this patriotic tradition for the Cashiers community. The Village Green is a 501c3 nonprofit park system and does not receive any funds from Jackson County\, the state of NC\, or the Federal Park System. \nAttendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs\, and picnics and coolers with their own food and beverages. Due to the size and nature of this event\, dogs will not be allowed and personal tents are not allowed. We hope to see you all there\, and God Bless America! \nFood and beverage will be available from Elevated Kitchen Food Truck\, Crossroads Custard\, and Innovation Brewing! \n**Important Additional Information for Saturday\, July 1st** \nPlease be aware that Frank Allen Road will be closed starting at 6pm and will not reopen until we receive an ‘all-clear’ after the fireworks show. Parking will be limited along Frank Allen Rd. Please do not park on the side of Frank Allen Road\, at the Cashiers Parks and Recreation Center\, or the Boys and Girls Club for safety reasons. If you choose to park along Frank Allen Road\, please be aware that you will not be able to leave until the road is officially re-opened. DESCRIPTION:The Blessing of The Animals is a tradition in the Cashiers community started by the Church of The Good Shepherd. Cashiers area churches will observe this annual event at 11am on Saturday\, September 30th\, 2023 at The Village Green Common’s Lawn on Frank Allen Road. The gathering will feature music and prayer in celebration of all God’s creatures\, great and small. Each animal will receive a special blessing. \nAttendees are encouraged to bring a donation for the Highlands-Cashiers Humane Society. Besides monetary gifts\, items like blankets\, rugs\, towels\, Milk Bones\, unscented cat litter\, and canned dog and cat food are always needed. \nThe Village Green will provide water and trash cans for the animals. DESCRIPTION:This project was supported by the North Carolina Arts Council\, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. \nFree Event – Registration Required  \nHere in the mountains\, we are fortunate to live day to day in a landscape that can be at once breathtaking and something easily taken for granted. Most of us have our favorite views\, whether this is taking in the vastness from the top of Whiteside or enjoying the Chattooga from the Iron Bridge. In this class we will capture the essence of your favorite spot in a step by step guided painting experience. \nCath Connolly Hudson will lead you through a simple but detailed process as you learn how to mix and apply paint to the canvas. Using a photo reference\, you will learn the basic steps to build a painting and become familiar with using and mixing paint and mediums. Cath will guide you in simple techniques to copy the image to the canvas with expressive brush strokes. \nDuring the four sessions we will use a grid system to build the basic composition\, learn to mix colors\, use different mediums to create paint texture\, understand brush techniques\, and finally create a finished painting of your favorite mountain landscape. \nYou don’t need any experience with painting\, just a desire to create! \nThe workshop is sponsored by The Bascom and The Village Green bringing local artist\, Cath Connolly Hudson to the Village Green to teach this class.
