DESCRIPTION:Groovin’ on The Green remains a vibrant\, free summer concert series\, creating unforgettable musical experiences for the community! Groovin’ on The Green concerts will begin at 6pm\, rain or shine\, on The Village Green Commons Lawn. Concerts take place on select Fridays from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Food and beverage vendors will be on site during the event! Picnics\, coolers\, and beverages are welcome. Dogs are welcome if they are leashed and with their owners at all times. \nPretty Little Goat is grassroots music at its finest. The band formed in 2013 through their common grounding in the deep well of local tradition found in the mountains of Western North Carolina. As young lovers of old-time music\, Pretty Little Goat began winning string band competitions right away. Over the last six years the Goats have collaborated with many well respected local musicians including Jamie Laval\, Blake Ellege\, members of the Steep Canyon Rangers\, Jeff Sipe\, Jonathan Grey of Jump Little Children and many others.

DESCRIPTION:The Blessing of the Animals is a tradition in the Cashiers community started by the Church of the Good Shepherd. Cashiers’ area churches will observe this annual event at 10am on Saturday\, October 19 at the Village Green Commons on Frank Allen Road. Bring a chair to this gathering with animals that features music and prayer in celebration of all God’s creatures big and small. Each animal receives a special blessing. \nAnimals must be leashed\, secured\, and under control at all times.  \nThe tradition of animal or pet blessings is in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all of God’s creatures. This fun and interactive course is FREE and family-friendly. \nPre-race check in will be available on Wednesday\, Nov. 27th from 3-6pm at The Village Green’s Lewis Hall (160 Frank Allen Rd in Cashiers)for participants to get their bibs and pick up t-shirts early. We encourage participants to check in early to ensure an on-time race start on Thanksgiving morning! \nRace day check in will be available from 7:15-8:30am on Thanksgiving morning! \nPlease keep in mind that some areas of the race course are gravel\, grass\, dirt and paved. While we are a dog friendly park\, due to the number of participants\, there is no dog participation with this event. \nFour door prizes from local businesses will be given based on random bib number drawings beginning at 9:30am on the Commons Stage. Youth VNS will feature interactive and educational activities including crafts\, games\, storytelling\, and even live animals! \nDecember 10th Presentation: Wildcraft Wreath Making with Jessica Blackburn of Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust \nJoin HCLT for a natural Christmas wildcraft! We will be making Christmas wreaths from wildcrafted materials found on HCLT properties\, including pine\, fur\, holly\, and other evergreen and decorative elements. Learn about the art of wildcrafting\, and how decorating with natural materials can be sustainable and creative option for all season!
