DESCRIPTION:The Wobblers\, going into their 12th year in 2024 are a South Carolina\, eight-piece\, genre defying\, roots band pulling from New Orleans rhythms\, and including elements of Memphis Soul\, Chicago Blues\, with heavy Hammond organ and brassy horns. \nThe band includes a 4-piece horn section\, piano\, organ\, guitar\, bass and drums\, and plays about half original music\, and half eclectic soul infused rearranged covers\, (the song list is…. long. very very long) and has performed locally and regionally for the last 11 or so years and has developed a cult following as one of Upstate South Carolina’s most original sounding bands. \nGroovin’ on The Green is held rain or shine from 6-8:30pm on the Common’s Lawn. This is a FREE community event; no registration is necessary. Bring your dancing shoes\, lawn chairs\, picnics and cooler for a night of unforgettable musical experiences! Dogs are welcome if they are leashed and with their owners at all times. \nFood and beverage vendors will be onsite during the event! \nDonations are collected by The Village Green during the event to help offset event costs and to be able to continue to offer Groovin’ on The Green for FREE. The Village Green is a 501c3 nonprofit public park system that relies solely on donations to bring the community events we have all come to cherish. Join us at The Village Green Commons for an evening of music\, family fun\, and of course\, fireworks! This is a FREE community event\, open to the public\, and no registration is required! \nThe annual “Fireworks Extravaganza on The Green” will take place on WEDNESDAY JULY 3RD\, starting at 6:00pm\, RAIN or SHINE\, on The Village Green Commons Lawn! Entertainment will be provided by the Cashiers Community Chorus\, Caribbean Cowboys Band\, and the Cashiers School of the Arts followed by extraordinary fireworks show at dark featuring thousands of colorful bursts! \nThe event will feature amazing live music\, an interactive line dance tutorial and conga line\, local food and beverage vendors\, dancing\, and of course\, fireworks!! \nAdmission is free; however\, donations will be collected to help with the cost of the event. Many small communities have eliminated fireworks from their celebrations due to the cost associated with large pyrotechnic displays\, but The Village Green believes it is important to preserve this patriotic tradition for the Cashiers community. DESCRIPTION:The Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust and The Village Green co-host a series of lectures each summer. Visitors and residents learn about wildlife\, habitats\, conservation\, and local cultural heritage from expert speakers in their fields! The Village Nature Series will begin at 5:30pm on the last Tuesday of each month (August’s presentation will be held on the 20th) from April through September at The Village Green in Cashiers. \nThank you to Cedar Creek Club for sponsoring the Village Nature Series! \nApril 30th Presentation: Composting with worms is a simple process that manages food waste\, while producing a super-enriched soil amendment and promoting sustainability. This presentation will cover not only the basics about worms and worm composting\, but also the science behind successfully gardening with worm products. Come learn about worm composting and how to best use worm compost and worm tea in your own garden!
