SUMMARY:Craft & Print a Tote-ally Sustainable Tote Bag by Lynsi Wavra
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop we will be teaching about the importance of sustainability and waste-reduction by creating fun and useful tote-bags out of up-cycled used T-shirts. No sewing or special tools required! Once the bags are made\, participants will have the chance to decorate and customize them with block print stamps. Participants should bring a used T-shirt they’d like to convert into a tote bag (some extra shirts will be available as well). \nPresenter Bio: Lynsi Wavra is a Cashiers\, NC native and daughter of Christmas tree farmers. She is driven by a strong affinity for the natural world for its healing and restorative qualities as well as the awe-inspiring interconnectedness of whole ecosystems. This deep fascination led to her studies \nThe Village Green and Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust co-host a series of lectures each summer. Visitors and residents learn about wildlife\, habitats\, conservation\, and local cultural heritage from expert speakers in their fields! SUMMARY:Groovin' on the Green- The Wandering Hours
DESCRIPTION:Join us welcoming The Wondering Hours to the Commons Stage! \nBased in Tampa Bay\, Florida\, The Wandering Hours are an original take on traditional American string music combining old-time\, early bluegrass\, and folk into a dancey and lyrically deep band that always entertains fans of string music and first-time listeners. Formed in 2018\, they harness powerful lyrics and uplifting melodies using fiddle\, mandolin\, banjo\, guitar\, and upright bass.  They write original music in this vein\, as well as playing some of the important songs and tunes from these eras.   \nGroovin’ on The Green is FREE and takes place rain or shine on the Commons Lawn at The Village Green. Food and beverage vendors will be available at each concert and concert-goers are welcome to bring their own picnics and coolers. Please bring your own lawn chairs and blankets; personal tents are not allowed at Groovin’. \nGroovin’ on The Green is free and open to the public\, however\, donations are collected to directly support The Village Green\, a 501c3 nonprofit park system that relies on grants and donations to offer our programming. Your donation helps keep Groovin’ on The Green alive year after year!
