This fun and interactive course is FREE and family-friendly. \nPre-race check in will be available on Wednesday\, Nov. 27th from 3-6pm at The Village Green’s Lewis Hall (160 Frank Allen Rd in Cashiers)for participants to get their bibs and pick up t-shirts early. We encourage participants to check in early to ensure an on-time race start on Thanksgiving morning! \nRace day check in will be available from 7:15-8:30am on Thanksgiving morning! \nPlease keep in mind that some areas of the race course are gravel\, grass\, dirt and paved. While we are a dog friendly park\, due to the number of participants\, there is no dog participation with this event. \nFour door prizes from local businesses will be given based on random bib number drawings beginning at 9:30am on the Commons Stage. DESCRIPTION:The Blessing of the Animals is a tradition in the Cashiers community started by the Church of the Good Shepherd. Cashiers’ area churches will observe this annual event at 10am on Saturday\, October 19 at the Village Green Commons on Frank Allen Road. Bring a chair to this gathering with animals that features music and prayer in celebration of all God’s creatures big and small. Each animal receives a special blessing. \nAnimals must be leashed\, secured\, and under control at all times.  \nThe tradition of animal or pet blessings is in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all of God’s creatures. DESCRIPTION:Groovin’ on The Green remains a vibrant\, free summer concert series\, creating unforgettable musical experiences for the community! Groovin’ on The Green concerts will begin at 6pm\, rain or shine\, on The Village Green Commons Lawn. Concerts take place on select Fridays from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Food and beverage vendors will be on site during the event! Picnics\, coolers\, and beverages are welcome. Dogs are welcome if they are leashed and with their owners at all times. \nPretty Little Goat is grassroots music at its finest. The band formed in 2013 through their common grounding in the deep well of local tradition found in the mountains of Western North Carolina. As young lovers of old-time music\, Pretty Little Goat began winning string band competitions right away. Over the last six years the Goats have collaborated with many well respected local musicians including Jamie Laval\, Blake Ellege\, members of the Steep Canyon Rangers\, Jeff Sipe\, Jonathan Grey of Jump Little Children and many others.

DESCRIPTION:Come one! Come all! Join us at The Village Green Commons for an evening of music\, family fun\, and of course\, fireworks! This is a FREE community event\, open to the public\, and no registration is required! \nThe annual “Fireworks Extravaganza on The Green” will take place on WEDNESDAY JULY 3RD\, starting at 6:00pm\, RAIN or SHINE\, on The Village Green Commons Lawn! Entertainment will be provided by the Cashiers Community Chorus\, Caribbean Cowboys Band\, and the Cashiers School of the Arts followed by extraordinary fireworks show at dark featuring thousands of colorful bursts! \nThe event will feature amazing live music\, an interactive line dance tutorial and conga line\, local food and beverage vendors\, dancing\, and of course\, fireworks!! \nAdmission is free; however\, donations will be collected to help with the cost of the event. Many small communities have eliminated fireworks from their celebrations due to the cost associated with large pyrotechnic displays\, but The Village Green believes it is important to preserve this patriotic tradition for the Cashiers community. The Village Green is a 501c3 nonprofit park system and does not receive any funds from Jackson County\, the state of NC\, or the Federal Park System. \nAttendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs\, and picnics and coolers with their own food and beverages. Elevated Kitchen Food Truck\, Crossroads Custard\, and Innovation Brewing will be at the event serving delicious food and beverages! Due to the size and nature of this event\, dogs will not be allowed and personal tents are not allowed. \nWe hope to see you all there!! The market is “producer-only” meaning that the vendor must be the grower or producer of ALL the products they sell. Vendors must produce within a 100-mile radius of Cashiers. That means that the season for each fruit and vegetable is longer.
