The appeal of Jane DeDecker's sculpture is not limited to three dimensions. Her sculpture moves beyond its physical boundaries to stimulate the viewer's visual and emotional responses. The external layers in Jane's texture allow her to describe the internal soul of the figure. Furthermore, DeDecker captures the sensitivity of the moment, whether her sculptures are solitary or collective in form. As quoted in the Agony the Ecstasy "One should not become an artist because he can but because he must. It is only for those who would be miserable without it"... Jane is one of those artists. She has been a student under several academic masters ranging from art history, tapestry, anatomy, painting and sculpting since 1983. Jane has created over 350 limited edition original sculptures, of those 85 are life-size or monumental in stature. She became a member of the National Sculpture Society in 1998 and is represented by select galleries across the country.
