Peter Lundberg is widely acclaimed for his monumental concrete and steel sculptures. Lundberg is also respected for his leadership in bringing sculpture to the public. His initiative and energy have resulted in the establishment of several new sculpture parks.
Active around the globe, Lundberg is known internationally as an expert in setting up sculpture parks in places such as Paris, Venice, Berlin, and Malmo, Sweden. He creates large concrete works of his own in his Vermont studio and in an open space at Seaside Park in Connecticut. Lundberg is passionate about his work. He majored in mathematics and physics at Skidmore College in upstate New York, but experienced what he calls a "conversion" when a friend gave him a clay bowl. "To me," Lundberg said, "it felt like the greatest thing I could do - to create something. It is incredibly important to have artistic activity in your life, to recognize beauty and form." He said art can make people think. "Art is a way to understand the world and your own existence," Lundberg said.
